The Utah State Bar has recognized Lewis Reece as the Bar Star for June-July. He earned specific recognition for his contributions to the Modest Means program, an initiative that connects Utah residents with affordable legal aid. As a member of the Modest Means Committee, Lewis has improved the overall program in various ways. These improvements include key clarifications as the Utah State Bar works to restructure and “revamp” the program. Affordable legal services represent a key priority not only for the State Bar, but also for many Utahns across the state, especially those who struggle to pay for standard lawyers yet earn too much to qualify for free legal aid.
The Modest Means program is just one example of a measure under the Utah Bar’s “Access to Justice” initiative. Volunteer attorneys often contribute to these programs with pro bono services, research assistance, and the development of new, statewide strategies to improve the affordability of legal assistance. Along with recognizing Lewis’ contributions to the Modest Means program, the Utah State Bar also praised his involvement with the Access to Justice Office when awarding him the Bar Star of the Month award.
As a key shareholder at Snow Jensen & Reece, Lewis Reece guides both individuals and businesses in Utah through mediation, settlement negotiations, and litigation. He was admitted to the Utah State Bar in 1990 and has been practicing for well over 35 years. Along with his recent Bar Star of the Month Award, Lewis Reece earned a spot among Utah Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite” in 2015. In addition, he is a past recipient of the Southern Utah Legal Clinic Pro Bono Award.
