Job Description & Key Responsibilities
As a Civil Litigation Associate, you will contribute significantly to our expanding regional litigation practice across real estate, construction, business, and commercial dispute resolution.
- Litigation Management: Working with senior members of the firm in managing cases from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, substantive motions, trials, and appellate briefs.
- Discovery & Trial Prep: Drafting and overseeing written discovery, preparation in taking and defending depositions, and preparing key witnesses for hearings and trials.
- Courtroom Advocacy: Collaborate with senior attorneys in representing clients in state and federal court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations with dedicated partner support.
- Client Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners, developers, and individuals who the firm has the honor of representing.
Qualifications
- Bar Admission: Active admission to the Utah State Bar (or eligible for admission via reciprocity/motion).
- Experience: 1–3+ years of civil litigation experience preferred (exceptional candidates with judicial clerkship experience or strong academic backgrounds are also encouraged).
- Key Competencies: Superior legal research, analytical writing, and oral communication skills.
- Location: Willingness to live and work in the St. George, Utah area (in-person role).

About the Role
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting attorneys and legal staff throughout all stages of civil litigation. Responsibilities include managing and organizing case files, drafting and filing pleadings and legal correspondence, preparing and organizing exhibits, trial binders, and hearing materials, assisting with client communications, monitoring calendars and court deadlines, and coordinating multiple matters with accuracy and efficiency. You will join a collaborative, high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional legal services in a professional, collegial environment.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a proactive, detail-driven professional. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities with precision and discretion.
Key qualifications include:
- Minimum two years of civil litigation experience
- Professional experience interacting with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a high standard for accuracy, formatting, and proofreading
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and shifting priorities
- Ability to work independently while effectively supporting a team of attorneys
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion
- A flexible, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal
- Working knowledge of state and federal court rules, procedures, and filing deadlines
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and filing pleadings, motions, discovery, and subpoenas
- Proficiency with state and federal e-filing systems
- Experience with litigation calendaring, docket management, and deadline tracking
- Familiarity with discovery management, including document review and production
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat DC, and legal case-management software
